instructor background

Shawn started his adult life by joining the 295th Ord. Company in Hastings, NE at age 17. He served for eight years and achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5) before ending his contract in 2008. During his enlistment, he traveled to Kuwait to perform ammunition operations and two trips to Germany. While enlisted, Shawn filled the roles of team leader, senior combat life saver, unit marksmanship improvement and unit quick reaction force.
In 2008, Shawn joined the Butler County Sheriff’s Office in Nebraska. Shawn became a defensive tactics instructor in spring of 2009, and became a K9 handler at the same time. His training and operational experiences includes numerous active shooter courses, tactical drug enforcement, rappelling, field training officer, Nebraska State Patrol K9 Academy, and most recently Nebraska Firearms instructor course for Handgun/shotgun. In early 2015, he was assigned the role of department training coordinator. In addition to the training requirements of his agency, he regularly assists with training the students attending the Basic Law Enforcement certification course at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in Grand Island, NE. Shawn continues to provide law enforcement in Butler County and continues to add instructor certifications to his skill sets.
