Basic Defensive Carbine

Prerequisite – Safe rifle handling skills (recommend to take intro to carbine)

This is an intermediate class. Students need to already have safe firearms handling, working knowledge of your rifle and a good foundational marksmanship skills (Introduction to carbine recommended, but not required)
Basic defensive carbine is a one day course that covers the basics of using your semi-automatic rifles in a defensive or practical competitive setting. In a non-intimidating training day, we will teach you how to effectively use your semi-automatic rifle beyond the basics of a standard range day and learn techniques that are critical if you were to ever forced to use your rifle for defensive purposes.

Students will be introduced to positional shooting, speed shooting, shooting on the move, use of cover, malfunctions clearing, reloading and more. This class is designed to challenge your skills and have you leave with improved fundamentals and techniques to confidently use your rifle in defensive or competitive settings.
If your current rifle is not appropriate for this course, we have a wide variety of AR configurations to rent with prior coordination.

Equipment Needed

**(rifle rentals and ammo are available, and must be added to your cart with the course to reserve)**

  • Pre zeroed AR-15 style rifle, all magazine fed semiauto’s are welcome; AK, SCAR, ACR, TAVOR ect.
  • 2-3 Magazines Minimum
  • Rifle Sling (single point or 2 point recommended)
  • Closed toe athletic shoes or boots
  • Sunscreen, Insect Repellent, lip balm
  • Iron sights or red dot style are preferred for this class, magnified optics are welcome, but you will be at a disadvantage on the close range portion of class
  • 250-300 rounds factory ammunition for your rifle (NO STEEL CORE or Penetrator ammo ie green tip)
  • Appropriate clothing for the weather (we train rain or shine)
  • Protective shooting gloves (ie mechanix)
  • Water bottle & Sack Lunch

Optional Equipment

  • Red dot or other 1x optic
  • Electronic hearing protection
  • Elbow pads
  • Snacks for on the range
